Can I serve as a panelist if my organization is also applying to the Cultural Trust?
Yes, we encourage you to apply if you or your organization applies. Trust staff will place you on a review panel that is not reviewing your application. The Trust also recognizes that conflicts of interest with organizations and or projects may arise. If you have a conflict of interest with an organization, we will ask you to recuse yourself from reviewing that application
What should I expect as a grant review panelist?
Selected panelists will receive notice of selection and be given no less than four weeks to complete their independent grant reviews. A mandatory orientation session will provide information, background, and tools for the review. A half or full day panel review meeting concludes the review process. Depending on the grant program, panelists should expect a commitment of 20-40 hours to complete the review process. Panel meetings may be held virtually or in-person, depending on the grant program.
Will I receive financial compensation for my service?
The Cultural Trust offers honorariums for panel service based on number of applications. Cultural Development panels read between 20-60 applications; we offer $250 for panelists reviewing forty or less applications and $300 for panelists reviewing over 40 applications.
